Winnie Community Hospital is a Medicare certified Critical Access Hospital and a privately owned for-profit hospital.
Roughly twenty percent of the nation's population lives in areas where education, economic, transportation and health services are sparse to nonexistent. The Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility Program was established to designate hospitals that meet necessary standards as Critical Access Hospitals. Winnie Community Hospital has been given that designation.
Winnie Community Hospital
opened its doors for business January 2, 2002 after being closed since February
2000. Following the closing in
2000, the community joined together to begin work to bring back the
facility. Many of the employees helped in the planning process as well as numerous others in the community, in hopes that hospital
would once again open its doors for the people of Winnie. Today, the hospital is thriving as the
employees work to provide quality healthcare to the community.
